Playa Los Muertos (or Dead Man’s beach) is a fantastic beach in the North East of the Cabo De Gata region. In 2007 this was voted the best beach in Spain, and although a fair drive from Casa Christina, it is worth the effort. The water is sparkling clear and the beach pristine. Please note that there are no facilities on this beach (like a lot of others in the region) and you will need to take umbrellas, water (essential in the sun), food etc. from the car to the beach. This is around a 1 Km walk down hill from either the first car park or the ‘lookout’ point (which is worth a visit). This is not an easy walk, so MAY not be suitable for those that have difficulty walking. Nudists on this beach tend to be at the far right of this beach, near the large rock and beyond. Children can play in and around the water with safety, as the waves are generally small and the beach shelves gentle into the water.
Apparently the name of the beach came from dead pirates being washed up here many year’s ago.
